Several years ago, Acer released their Aspire Timeline series of notebooks. These ultra-thin, stylish laptops achieved a solid eight hours of battery life. However, they suffered from one major drawback: a lack of power. Acer recently solved this oversight by introducing the Aspire TimelineX series. These laptops still offer eight hours of battery life (although four to seven hours is probably a more realistic estimate), but they now contain powerful Intel Core i3 and i5 processors.
The Aspire TimelineX series contains 11.6-inch, 13.3-inch, 14-inch, and 15.6-inch models, and they've all got a built-in webcam, a full-sized keyboard, and a backlit HD screen. One of the more interesting models is the AS1830T -- this notebook combines the portability of an 11.6-inch with the power of i5 processor and only costs about $700. It's a great little machine that will really appeal to professionals who want an affordable, portable workhorse that they can bring to meetings at client sites.
Looking for something a bit larger? The 15.6-inch AS5820T features an i3 processor, an island-style keyboard, a brushed aluminum finish, and a HD webcam. While the hard drive on this model is a bit small (320GB) for the price range, this laptop contains 4 usb ports, so it would be easy to add more storage space via a flash or external hard drive. The AS5820T is a good option for a college/graduate students as well as home users as they may prefer the larger screen size and sturdy look and feel of this model.
