Fujistu ProGREEN Lifebooks: How Long Can You Compute?

Because Fujitsu isn't known for anything else, they've announced the ProGREEN line. Yes, this bit player in the portable computing business could use the attention that calling anything "green" gets these days, but these models look pretty legit. They're Energy Star 5.0 certified, with LED-backlit displays (14 inches on the Lifebook E780, 15.6 inches on the Lifebook S710). What's the big deal, you ask? The E780 sports an 18-hour battery life -- well, it uses two batteries, so nine hours each, but whatever, that's an absurd span of unpluggedness.

The E780 even runs a pretty serious 2.4 GHz i5 processor, though the base model comes with a skimpy 160GB HDD and 1GB RAM. It's available from Fujitsu for $1,237, so we really hope the insane battery life thing is true.
